Abominable: A Fun Creature Feature for Bigfoot Fans
As a Bigfoot enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for new movies and shows that feature our favorite elusive creature. Recently, I came across a review of the 2006 horror film, Abominable, on the YouTube channel The Maniac. While the reviewer, The Maniac, had some criticisms of the movie, he ultimately found it to be an entertaining and enjoyable Creature Feature.
Abominable is a Bigfoot movie that combines elements of Rear Window with a Creature Feature and adds a higher body count. The movie follows Preston Rogers, played by Matt McCoy, who is returning to the cabin where he lived with his wife after being paralyzed in a climbing accident that killed her. He's joined by his nurse, Otis, and the two of them witness a young woman being taken by a creature from the cabin next door.
The Maniac praises the movie for its interesting cast, which includes scream queen Tiffany Shepis, Paul Gleason, Phil Morris, and a trio of hunters played by Rex Linn, Lance Hendrickson, and Jeffrey Combs. He also notes that the movie has some good bloodshed and entertaining kills, all done with practical effects.
However, The Maniac does point out some convoluted plot points and cliches that serve to isolate Preston from the women and the rest of civilization. The main culprit is Preston's nurse, Otis, who is an annoying character that refuses to listen to Preston's warnings about the creature. The Maniac notes that while the movie may be trying to address issues faced by disabled people, Otis is still an annoying character.
Despite these flaws, The Maniac ultimately recommends Abominable as a fun Creature Feature that knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything more. He also points out the interesting connection between the movie's creature, known as the Flatwoods Monster, and the actual Flatwoods Monster myth from Flatwoods, Virginia.
I'm always excited to see new movies and shows that feature our favorite elusive creature. While Abominable may not be a masterpiece, it sounds like a fun and entertaining Creature Feature that Bigfoot fans can enjoy. So, if you're looking for something new to watch, check out Abominable and see what you think!
