As he moved across his yard, Doc saw a huge 8 to 9 foot tall dark shape charging at him from behind his garage. The next morning, officers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) arrived at Doc's property to investigate. Doc walked the officers through the entire event, ending with his assertion that he hadn't missed a shot in 40 years and it wasn't a bear. One of the men present, who was known to Doc, vouched for his shooting skills and confirmed that he had never seen him miss a shot in all the years he had known him. As they searched the area, the officers found a handprint so big that the hand it belonged to could easily grip a full-grown man's head. They tracked the blood from the handprint, but found nothing. A week later, Doc received a visit from the game warden who told him to forget everything that had happened. Doc's response? "Next time, I'll bring out the 50 cal." One night, the wife, who we'll call May, saw a large head with deep-set eyes staring at her from outside her bedroom window. The creature was so tall that it was bending over slightly, putting it at around 9 feet tall. May was terrified and asked the creature to leave her alone. A few nights later, the creature returned, staring at May through the same window. This time, May covered the window with tin foil to prevent the creature from seeing in. But the tapping started, with the creature smacking at the side of the house in frustration. May noticed that her dog's food was disappearing, and one morning, she found Max pinned to the ground with freshly cut saplings woven through his collar.
