A new case of a missing person in the Pacific Northwest has caught the attention of the Bigfoot community. The case of Maureen "Anu" Kelly, a 19-year-old woman who disappeared while on a spiritual quest in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington State, has left many unanswered questions.
The video from the YouTube channel PNW Bigfoot Search, titled "Maureen 'Anu' Kelly - Washington State," delves into the details of Kelly's disappearance and the subsequent search efforts. Kelly, who grew up in Vancouver, Washington, was camping with a group of friends at the Canyon Creek Campground on June 9, 2013, when she decided to go on a solo spiritual quest.
According to her friends, Kelly stripped naked and put on a fanny pack containing a knife, compass, and matches before crossing over Canyon Creek and disappearing into the wilderness. Despite her friends' concerns about her capabilities to survive in the wild, they did not attempt to talk her out of it, assuming she would be back in a few hours.
However, when Kelly did not return by the early hours of June 10, her friends contacted the Sheriff's Office and reported her missing. Search and rescue crews were immediately dispatched to the area, but their efforts were hampered by low clouds and rain, which prevented helicopters from searching from the sky.
On the ground, search crews discovered bare footprints leading into the wilderness that appeared to be the same size as Kelly's. Canine units were brought in to track her, but they only followed the trail to Forest Service Road 54 before losing the scent.
Despite an extensive search effort, Kelly was never found. According to search crews, the steep and unforgiving terrain, combined with the lack of clothing and shoes, made it unlikely that Kelly could have survived for long.
The case of Maureen "Anu" Kelly is a tragic reminder of the dangers of venturing into the wilderness alone. While many in the Bigfoot community are intrigued by the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, the primary focus remains on finding answers for Kelly's loved ones.
As Bigfoot believers, we remain hopeful that someday there will be closure for Kelly's family and friends. Until then, we encourage everyone to stay safe and vigilant while exploring the great outdoors.
