Four Chilling Bigfoot Encounters: Nevada, Missouri, and South Carolina Eyewitness Accounts

In this week's roundup of intriguing encounters, we've gathered some compelling stories from the YouTube channel Ontario Cryptids. These accounts come from various locations and time periods, each one adding a piece to the mysterious puzzle that surrounds the elusive creatures known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Our first story takes us to Washoe County, Nevada, in September 1970. A young boy, 10 years old at the time, was out in the wilderness with his geologist father, who was hunting deer. As they crossed a meadow on the western face of the East Ridge, they heard a series of eerie, extended calls coming from the west. The calls sounded like World War II air raid sirens, low and quiet at first, then rising in pitch and volume. The father dismissed the calls as a fire tower siren test, but the boy, who had grown up in Kansas City, knew that the sound was not typical of a siren. He heard the calls repeat four times, each one coming from a different location, and his father eventually decided to call it a day and leave the area. Next, we travel to Clinton County, Missouri, in August 2023. A woman was taking her dogs outside with a spotlight due to recent coyote activity. As she scanned the area, she noticed two sets of glowing eyes about 300 feet in front of her, in a soybean field clearing. The eyes appeared to be at least 7 feet tall, and when she shined the light on them, they hid behind a large bush. After watching for a while, she went inside for 20 minutes, only to return and find the mysterious figures gone. In September 1993, a student at Missouri Southern State College had an encounter near Joplin, Missouri. While driving a group of friends back to campus around midnight, he saw a large, ape-like humanoid standing just off the pavement. The creature was at least 7.5 to 8 feet tall and had broad shoulders that were nearly 3 feet across. Its eyes were deep black, and it appeared to be much taller than the lifted pickup truck the witness was driving. Our final story comes from Richland County, South Carolina, in the fall of 1964. A soldier on Fort Jackson, near Columbia, was on a training mission for escape and invasion. As he made his way through the woods alone, he heard something approaching him at a fire lane crossing. Thinking it was another person, he called out, but the mysterious being moved away quickly and began making growling noises. The soldier became frightened and ran for about half a mile before encountering an airport sergeant with a fire built and a truck waiting.
