The children's grandparents, Evelyn and Howard Clayton, as well as their friends, saw the beast sitting in the gravel pit, going through the trash. The adults quickly fled the property, but this was not the last time the Claytons would see the creature. The Grassman is said to be very similar in appearance to the North American Sasquatch or Bigfoot, with some believing it to be a subspecies of Bigfoot. The creature is described as being 5 to 10 feet tall, weighing between 300 to 1,000 pounds, and having a foul odor and bright orange eyes. Despite its name, the beast is not actually green but covered in long black hair. The name Grassman comes from the large dents it makes in grass fields and its diet, which allegedly consists mainly of tall grass. The Claytons would see the Grassman again after the initial encounter, with one particularly shocking sighting being through their kitchen window. Terrified, Howard Clayton grabbed his gun, but the monster was gone before he returned.
