Missing Persons in the Pacific Northwest: The Chet Hanson and Joe Wood Disappearance A new episode of the Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project, hosted by Tanner Hoskins, co-founder of Pacific Northwest Bigfoot Search and director of the Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project, brings us the stories of two missing persons in the Pacific Northwest – Chet Hanson and Joe Wood. Chet Hanson, a 27-year-old self-taught outdoors photographer from Wilkerson, Washington, went missing on November 11, 1997. He had kissed his mother goodbye and let her know he'd be back in time for dinner. Chet packed a bag with more than 35 lbs of camera gear, including lenses and a tripod, and traveled to Mount Rainier National Park. He was an experienced hiker who loved being in the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. Chet had been focused on photographing waterfalls and lakes. When he didn't arrive home in time for dinner with his parents, they assumed he was staying the night with friends. It wasn't until the next day that Chet was reported missing. Friends and family quickly descended on the Deer Creek Falls Trail Head where they located Chet's vehicle. Despite extensive searches, none of Chet's camera equipment, clothing, or bones have ever been located. Joe Wood, a 34-year-old male from New York, was a brilliant writer who had come out to the Pacific Northwest to attend a conference of more than 6,000 riders for Unity in 1999. He had checked into his hotel and met up with some of his close friends. The next morning, Joe picked up his rental car and drove 2 and 1/2 hours to Mount Rainier National Park. He had planned to go for a day hike. In the early afternoon of July 8, 1999, Joe arrived at the long Meer parking lot inside Mount Rainier National Park and began his hike up towards Comet Falls. A witness later said that they saw a wood as they reached about the 4,800 ft level where the ground was covered in snow. The witness turned back, but Joe continued. This was the last time anyone would ever see Joe Wood again. Despite extensive searches, nothing of Joe's has ever been located. Mount Rainier National Park is known for swallowing people whole, with over 60 people recorded missing and more than 420 fatalities since 1897. The park is also ripe with UAP and UFO sightings, Sasquatch sightings, and other strange phenomena. I encourage our readers to watch the full episode of the Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project on the PNW Bigfoot Search YouTube channel and to share any information they may have regarding the disappearance of Chet Hanson and Joe Wood. Let's take a moment to remember these two individuals and to keep their families in our thoughts as we continue to seek answers and closure. Excitement Level: 6/10 – The mysterious disappearance of two individuals in the Pacific Northwest, with no trace of their belongings, is both intriguing and concerning. The added element of Sasquatch sightings and other strange phenomena in the area adds to the mystery and makes this a must-watch for any Bigfoot enthusiast.
