Park rangers are often tasked with maintaining the safety and well-being of visitors in national parks, but what happens when they encounter something unexplained and terrifying while on the job? The YouTube channel Tattooed Biker Unexplained has shared four stories from current or former park rangers who had encounters with the unknown while working in national parks. These stories are sure to leave you feeling a mix of fear, intrigue, and respect for the bravery of these park rangers. The first story comes from a former park ranger named Arthur, who worked at Sequoia National Park in California from 1994 to 1997. Arthur's encounter happened in 1997, during his last year working as a ranger. He was patrolling an area that wasn't frequently visited by visitors due to the dense brush and the ease of getting lost. Arthur had received a report of loud sounds coming from the area, scaring visitors and making them think there was a bear on the loose. As he was investigating the area, Arthur heard a low, loud growl coming from his left. He looked and saw a big, reddish-brown creature with wide shoulders, long arms, and huge human hands, staring right at him. The creature charged at him with full force, causing Arthur to quickly get back into his Jeep and drive away. The creature followed the Jeep, running on all fours, before Arthur was finally able to lose it. Arthur's encounter left him traumatized and he was eventually fired from his job for not being able to explain the damage to the Jeep. However, Arthur is certain that what he encountered was a Bigfoot, not a bear, and he knows that the creature tried to snatch him. The second story comes from a former park ranger named Tyler, who worked in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Eastern Tennessee. Tyler's encounter happened shortly after he graduated from college and was hired by the National Park Service. He was assigned to patrolling and routine safety checks, which allowed him to roam around the huge and beautiful park. One day, Tyler received a call reporting unknown animal tracks and activity all around a campsite. When he arrived at the site, he saw human-shaped, huge tracks with talons. Tyler took photographs and helped the family get to another campsite. He later turned over the pictures to his supervisor, expecting him to laugh and come clean about a prank. Instead, his supervisor was upset and accused Tyler of playing a prank on him. A few weeks later, Tyler received another strange call about a campsite that had been completely destroyed. He found two tufts of brown hair and fur on the ground, but his supervisor wrote it down as bear activity. Two months later, Tyler and five other rangers went to search for a lost dog in the woods. They heard growling sounds and saw a dark shape running past them. Suddenly, the creature lunged out of the woods and onto the trail, causing the rangers to scatter into the surrounding woods. The third story comes from a park ranger named Sarah, who worked at Little Buffalo State Park in central Pennsylvania. Sarah and her partner were driving around the park at night to do a final check of the area when they received a call from dispatch about a camper who thought his RV had been broken into. They arrived at the campsite and found a gentleman in his mid-60s standing outside his RV, looking very nervous. As they were investigating the RV, Sarah's partner noticed a light odor that smelled like something was trying to cover up its own scent. They looked around for another minute before deciding to leave the area. As they were driving away, they saw a dark shape running past them in the woods. These stories from current or former park rangers are a reminder that the unknown and unexplained still exists in the world, even in national parks. The bravery and dedication of these park rangers is to be commended, as they continue to maintain the safety and well-being of visitors in the face of the unknown.
