Forests have long been associated with mystery and the unknown, and the following discoveries made in forests around the world are certainly no exception. From eerie sounds to unexplained phenomena, these stories are sure to leave you questioning what really lurks in the woods.
First up, we have a video captured in British Columbia, Canada in 2017. While the visuals may not seem too extraordinary, it's the sound that truly matters. The video was taken at 8:30 AM on December 16th in Witset, and the filmer began recording after hearing a chilling sound in the distance. Some speculate that it could be a mountain lion, while others suggest a banshee or even an elk. You be the judge - take a listen for yourself:

Next, we have a story that was posted to Reddit by Donna Hotter Than Ass Saun. While on a nature trail with her boyfriend, they came across a piece of alligator tail and foot that had been ripped apart, with the rest of the body nowhere to be found. As they cautiously continued on, they spotted a massive alligator - at least 10 feet long - carrying a smaller dead alligator in its mouth. Talk about a creepy encounter!
Moving on to the Oakville Blobs, this bizarre incident occurred in Oakville, Washington in 1994. Gelatinous blobs began falling from the sky, making people sick with symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and respiratory issues. When scientists examined the blobs under a microscope, they found human white blood cells - cells from our immune system. To this day, the blobs have never been definitively identified.
Todd Standing, known for his intriguing Bigfoot footage, has captured what may be his most convincing video yet. While hiking in the woods, he saw an ape-like creature peeking out from a tree route. He was able to focus in and get clear footage of its face, which appears to show blinking eyes and subtle movements. While it's possible that this could be a well-executed hoax, it's also possible that it could be a real animal. You decide:

In the Hällingsåfallet valley in Norway, unidentified lights have been periodically spotted in the sky since the 1930s. These mysterious glowing phenomena, known as the Hällingsåfallet lights, can be white, yellow, or red and have been seen both above and below the horizon. They can last for just a few seconds or go on for more than an hour, sometimes zipping around quickly and other times just hanging in the air. The Hallingsåfallet automatic measurement station was set up in the valley in 1998 to keep track of and record the mysterious lights, but their cause remains unknown.
The Saa, also known as the Asian unicorn or Vu Quang Ox, is a rare creature native to the Annamite Mountains in Vietnam and Laos. For a long time, it was completely unknown to the outside world, with researchers outside of the region considering it a mythological creature at best. However, in 1992, these animals were discovered to actually exist, with the first photograph taken in 1993.
In 2019, a beached whale was discovered in the Amazon jungle on Marajó Island. The 36-ton humpback whale, which was 10 tons and a 12-month-old calf, was found hidden in the undergrowth about 50 feet from the sea. Experts are still unsure how the whale made its way so deep into the jungle, with possible explanations including rough seas tossing the creature out of the water and into the woods or strong tides picking it up and throwing it inland into the mangrove.
Chris Simkins captured a strange metallic sound that he heard coming from the woods near his home one night in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The sound, which can be heard in the video taken on September 6th, 2016, is certainly unnerving. In the video description, Chris dispels some theories about what the sound could be, including trains and power tools.
Reddit user I Don't Care I Like Dogs made a post about the unnerving silence in the woods of remote Alaska during the dead of winter. The complete silence, combined with the isolation and the knowledge that no one would ever find their body if they were to die there, is certainly unsettling.
Finally, we have the story of Percy Harrison Fawcett, a British explorer who set out in 1925 to find the lost city he called Z in the Amazon rainforest. Fawcett believed this ancient city held untold riches and a sophisticated civilization. Accompanied by his son Jack and friend Raleigh Rimell, Fawcett ventured into uncharted territory, never to be seen again. The expedition vanished without a trace, with theories ranging from Fawcett and his crew dying from harsh conditions in the jungle to being eaten by an animal. However, there is also a more intriguing theory that they may have actually found the lost city deep within the Amazon.
These stories and videos are certainly intriguing, leaving us questioning what truly lurks in the woods. Be sure to check out the videos and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
